Brazil!
It's the big day!
The sea trip is coming to an end for Anouchka, Lorenzo, and Jean-Baptiste. After a month and a day of solo adventure, rocked by the constant swell, João Pessoa is in sight. Theirboat appears in the distance, recognizable by its multicoloredspinnaker.
We came to welcome them at the lighthouse that marks the end of the sea and the beginning of the river they must navigate to reach the Jacaré Marina. The crew waves to us, waving Belgian and South African flags and blowing horns to celebrate the occasion.
We follow them by car along the road that runs parallel to the river, which allows us to take beautiful pictures of the boat from the fishing villages and the mangroves.
The crew casts off in a picture-postcard setting. They are in good shape, having enjoyed fresh fish caught in the sea and having taken turns efficiently on watch. All three emphasizedthe wonderful atmosphere they enjoyed on board and the joyof having lived outside of time and the world for 32 days. Returning to land, accessing the internet, and hearing the frightful news from around the globe will take some time getting used to.
Anouchka fulfilled her father's dream of crossing the Atlantic in a boat he built himself. They can now enjoy the delights of Brazil: the beach, the sun, the rhythm of samba, and caipirinhas! It's always easier to return to civilization in 32-degree heat, under palm and coconut trees.
The challenge Anouchka and Lorenzo set for themselves six years ago—restoring the boat and sailing from Cape Town to Brazil—has been accomplished! The next chapter of theirmaritime adventures remains to be seen.

C'est le grand jour!
Le voyage en mer prend fin pour Anouchka, Lorenzo et Jean-Baptiste. Après 1 mois et 1 jour d'aventure solitaire, bercés par la houle constante, Joāo Pessoa est en vue. Leur bateau apparaît au loin, reconnaissable grâce à leur spi multicolore.
Nous sommes venus les accueillir au phare qui marque la fin de la mer et le début de la rivière qu'ils doivent emprunter pour rejoindre la Marina de Jacaré. L'équipage nous fait signe en agitant des drapeaux de Belgique et d'Afrique du Sud et en soufflant dans des cornes pour fêter l'évènement.
Nous les suivons en voiture sur la route qui longe la rivière, ce qui nous permet de faire de belles images du bateau depuis les villages de pêcheurs et la mangrove.
L'équipage jette les amarres dans un décor de carte postale. Ils sont en bonne forme car ils ont pu manger des poissons frais pêchés dans la mer et se sont relayés efficacement pour assurer les quarts.
Tous les 3 mettent l'accent sur la bonne entente qui régnait à bord et sur le bonheur d'avoir pu vivre hors du temps et du monde durant 32 jours. Le retour sur terre, l'accès à internet, les nouvelles peu rassurantes du monde, il faudra se réhabituer à tout cela.
Anouchka a pu réaliser le rêve de son Papa de traverser l'Atlantique avec un bateau construit de ses propres mains. Ils vont pouvoir jouir à présent des bienfaits du Brésil que sont la plage, le soleil, le rythme de la samba et la caipirinha! C'est toujours plus facile de replonger dans la civilisation par 32 degrés, sous les palmiers et les cocotiers.
Le défi que s'étaient imposé Anouchka et Lorenzo depuis 6 ans, de restaurer le bateau et de rejoindre le Brésil depuis Cape Town, est réussi! La suite de leurs aventures maritimes reste encore un point d'interrogation.
