Preparatory boat trip

Anouchka Scaillet and Lorenzo Gatto have been preparing for this trip from Cape Town to Brazil for over five years. Anouchka's father had built a steel sailboat with his own hands, which he named after his daughter, Anouchka. But he was never able to realize his dream of crossing the oceans.

Anouchka and Lorenzo have taken up the mantle and are finally making this long-awaited dream a reality. For the past five years, I have accompanied them to South Africa each year to film the various stages of relaunching this boat, which hadn't sailed for a very long time and therefore required a technological, aesthetic, and practical overhaul.

This year is the good one. Anouchka, Lorenzo, and Jean-Baptiste Mansion, an experienced skipper, are currently sailing on the Atlantic. I have edited eight videos for you that show the last ten days before the big departure. You can watch them on this blog, with a new video posted approximately every two days.

In this first episode, you can discover the boat's last outing before the final planned work on the hull. With Anouchka's lifelong friend, Etienne, and his partner Abi, they tested the boat in real conditions, with winds exceeding 30 knots, to ensure that the boat and the crew are ready for the long crossing.

Episode 1 : Sortie en mer préparatoire

Anouchka Scaillet et Lorenzo Gatto préparent ce voyage du Cap vers le Brésil depuis plus de 5 ans. Le papa d’Anouchka avait construit de ses propres mains un bateau à voile en acier qu’il avait nommé d’après sa fille, Anouchka. Mais il n’a jamais pu réaliser son rêve de traverser les océans.

Sa fille et Lorenzo reprennent le flambeau et réalisent enfin ce rêve demeuré inaccessible. Depuis 5 ans, chaque année, je les ai accompagnés en Afrique du Sud pour filmer les différentes étapes de la remise à flot de ce bateau qui n’avait plus navigué depuis très longtemps et qui nécessitait donc une remise à niveau technologique, esthétique et pratique.

Cette année est la bonne. Anouchka, Lorenzo et Jean-Baptiste Mansion, skipper expérimenté, voguent pour l’instant sur l’Atlantique. J’ai réalisé pour vous 8 vidéos qui présentent les 10 derniers jours précédant le grand départ. Vous pourrez les voir sur ce blog, au rythme d’une nouvelle vidéo postée tous les 2 jours environ.

Dans ce premier épisode, vous pouvez découvrir la dernière sortie du bateau avant les ultimes travaux prévus sur la coque. Avec l’ami de toujours d’Anouchka, Etienne, et sa compagne Abi, ils ont vérifié en condition réelle, avec des vents de plus de 30 noeuds, que le bateau et l’équipage étaient prêts pour la grande traversée.
