Episode 8 : It's D-Day!

Finally, the day of the big departure!

They've been dreaming of this for five years. That dream becomes a reality today.

The mooring lines are scheduled to be cast off at 8:00 a.m., depending on the high tide and the winds. Lorenzo just has to give the engine one last check, and the crew has to put on the official "Anouchka" boat t-shirt.

Many people have come to the dock to say a final goodbye, mainly Anouchka's family and members of the Port Owen Yacht Club. The farewells are emotional; everyone sheds a tear, and then Anouchka, Lorenzo, and Jean-Baptiste leave the marina under motor, waving goodbye. Along the river leading to the sea, a committee cheers them on with shouts, whistles, and horns. They passed the last jetty, inhabited by cormorants and herons, and emerged onto the sea.

We were lucky enough to film them from a boat that followed them all the way out to sea. They were smiling, not too stressed, and thrilled by this unforgettable adventure. The sun was shining, the breeze was light—in short, everything was perfect for a smooth departure. It was time to hoist the mainsail and the spinnaker and disappear from the horizon.

Episode 8 : C’est le Jour J!

Enfin le jour du grand départ!

Ca fait 5 ans qu’ils en rêvaient. Ce rêve devient réalité aujourd’hui-même.

Le largage des amarres est prévu à 8 heures du matin, en fonction de la marée haute et des vents. Il reste à Lorenzo à verifier une dernière fois le moteur et à l’équipage d’enfiler le t-shirt officiel du bateau “Anouchka”.

De nombreuses personnes sont venues sur le ponton pour dire un dernier au revoir, principalement la famille d’Anouchka et des membres du Yacht Club de Port Owen. Les adieux sont émouvants, tout le monde verse une petite larme puis Anouchka, Lorenzo et Jean-Baptiste quittent la marina au moteur en nous saluant de la main. Le long de la rivière qui mène à la mer, un comité les encourage à force de cris, de coups de sifflets et de trompes. Ils dépassent la dernière jetée, habitée par des cormorans et des hérons et débouchent sur la mer.

Nous avons eu la chance de les filmer depuis un bateau qui les suivait, pour les saluer jusqu’en pleine mer. Ils étaient souriants, pas trop stressés et enthousiasmés par cette aventure inoubliable. Le soleil était de la partie, la brise était légère, bref, tout ce qu’il fallait pour un départ tout en douceur. Il était temps de hisser la grand voile et le spinnaker et de disparaître de l’horizon.
