« Our first tuna! »

Light winds around 13 knots this morning, we decided to change our bearing from 287°T to 270°T in order to avoid a patch of calmer winds. So far its 17:07pm GMT-1 and this tactic seems to be going well, we are going a steady 5 knots in less than 10 knots wind. We don’t feel like having to switch on the engine but we don’t want to go slower than 4 knots so we will see.

Tonight on the menu is Saint Helenian steak with coleslaw and mash!

Just when I was writing this the reel set off and L + JB rushed off to the back of the boat. After a long struggle of about 15’, the fish ended up being an 8kg tuna! This also means no more fishing till we get to Brazil, our freezer is more than full of tuna and meat.

We had a bit of raw tuna ceviche, so mixed with lime juice, as a starter - L and I never ate such a fresh fish, the consistency was nearly crunchy!
