We had a very good night with our spinnaker up, this morning we had a little rain so we jumped on this opportunity to clean the deck a little bit but as it sometimes happens when it rains, the wind also dies down after. So the engine is now back on since 11:40 GMT-2, we are hoping the Predict Wind previsions are correct and we will have a bit more breeze later this afternoon. The day so far has been cloudy so a bit less hot than previously.
We switched the engine off- always a great moment- at around 14:30. There was just enough wind to be able to fly our small asymmetrical spinnaker, the stay sail and our main sail, giving us a good speed for these light winds (a bit more than half of the wind speed). Right now we are beam reaching and not going downwind, so the wind is coming from our 60-90° giving us our fastest speed ratio. Might be that the days of having our Oxley out for downwind sailing are nearly over.
When the guys went for a nap, I enjoyed this rare peaceful moment to bring out my watercolours, haven’t had time yet to even think of starting. After some reflection, I think I’ll try to illustrate every important moment of our trip and the places/things we saw. A bit of work is going to be needed to get the hang of it again and try out the colours. Looking forward to finally seeing Brazil, neither of us has ever been there. Thierry and my mom have organised a trip to meet us there, so that’s going to be something to look forward to when we arrive: we will have a little welcome committee!
