« A little stowaway »

This morning around 5:00am during Lorenzo’s night watch he realised we had a little feathery friend on top of our solar panels. He rested for an hour before flying away again, leaving behind his thank you droppings. L was rummaging through our « Birds of Southern Africa » to try and find what species it was, his conclusion was a shearwater.

Another funny story is that JB couldn’t fathom why he had fish scales on his bedding…well he didn’t need to look too far, there was a flying fish that got stuck on top of his hatch curtains. He saw this when going closer to the hatch from the deck, I was thinking, luckily the curtains were closed…

We were going slowly but surely till around 16:45 when the wind dropped to a meager 5 knots…so the engine was switched on but luckily, only for 20’! The wind came back and we were more than happy to place the Oxley back up! Now we are going an average 4.5 knots, a bit slow, but at least we are using the wind and not diesel.
