« Last night on the ocean »
Last night around midnight during my night watch I heard bird noises which meant I also had the chance to see these pelagic birds that L saw the previous night. This time I managed to take a photo of the flying couple and after comparing them to our book it seems these birds are actually endemic to South America because they don’t appear in our « Birds of Southern Africa », the resemblance with a shearwater is close but not 100%. Will have to check on the internet when we reach land tomorrow! Wow, already tomorrow, we have a feeling this all went quite fast…where did this last month go? Even with our 5 day stop in St Helena we rounded the trip in exactly one month, much faster than we ever imagined.
Our boat was a very comfortable ride, you can feel she was always meant for this type of voyage: no excessive rolling nor pitch. We had exceptionally good weather from beginning to end, both spinnakers and our white sails doing their job perfectly and our dear Perkins engine always ready to help us when the wind was too weak, never letting us down. Tonight is another spectacular evening, with the moon and its stars surrounded by clouds, the sea reflecting the moonshine.
Tonight we are motoring, the wind has died off so we hope that around midnight it will pick up again but no matter what, we are enjoying our last night at sea.
We are now GMT-3, 6 time zones behind Cape Town.

Wow! Very special! :)
